Versions

There are multiple Xbox 360 versions available. Each one has benefits, as well as dis-advantages to the average modder

Different SKU's

All SKU's contain the same hardware inside the console, whether it is an Arcade, Pro, or Elite SKU. The only difference between these different products are the accessories contained within the package, which can also be purchased seperatly

V1 Xenon

The very first Version can be identified ,simply , by if it has NO HDMI port. The V1 can be downgraded using the timing attack as it has a base kernel of 1888. Both the CPU and GPU have a 90nm die.

V2 Zephyr

The second Xbox 360 version first appeared in April 2007, it was released as a separate SKU known as the Elite. Later on, it also became the standard version of all [[SKU}}'s. It was the first Xbox 360 console to feature a HDMI port and also have an upgrade GPU heatsink. The V2 also has a base kernel of 1888, so it is suspectable to the timing attack.

V3 Falcon

The third Xbox 360 version is basically the same as a V2 as it features HDMI, but it does have its differences. For starters, it features a 65nm CPU instead of the 90nm CPU in the V1 and V2 Xbox 360's. The 65nm uses less power, and therefor less heat, than previous versions and also has a new CPU made of aluminum without a heat pipe. The V3 Falcon has a base kernel of 1921, which has the memcmp exploit patched so the hash cannot be 'guessed' to allow the timing attack to happen, and therefor it cannot be downgraded.

V4 Jasper

the Jasper motherboard is still currently in production and rumored to be available before the Christmas holidays. It will have the same hardware as the V3 Falcon, but will feature a 65nm GPU as well as the current 65nm CPU.

Refurbished/Repaired Consoles

Xbox 360 consoles that have been sent to Microsoft since around 06/2007 to be refurbished/repaired are updated to have a CB of 1921, which will disable the timing attack, which means it can not run Linux or homebrew at all.
